Worship in Spirit & Truth Part 3 - "Worship Today"

"John 4:23 - But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."

Getting back to worship we can see that it is more of a personal thing, but don't understand me wrong, it can be done corporately as well and should be done. But in your own personal life and relationship with God it is vital to live a life of true worship before God, because that is really what He desire of us. So if you look at what's happening today we see that such a lot has changed over the years in the way we worship God. Big bands, worship teams and choirs have taken over our stages and are doing their thing on a Sunday morning or evening. We create many new ways and methods everyday to enhance our music and do a lot in the way we do our presentations on a Sunday. We drive our bands and worship teams to maintain excellence to the point where most of them are more under pressure on a Sunday then really worshipping. We concentrate so much on our music and the excellence thereof, that we sometimes miss the point of worshipping God. Some people will even stay away from church should their pastor decide one day not to have a band and worship team in his church anymore. Some people make so much of worship that they say: "I only come to church for the worship", "They didn't do my song this morning", "Oh the music was fantastic this morning", "The worship was awesome, and the led well". Does this sounds familiar to you? I've heard this all my life. The thing that bothers me a lot is where is the praises that must go to God. I don't hear them applauding God or saying about how good it was with Him, or how awesome it was in His presence. It sounds more as if people get pleased at what they wanted out of the Praise and Worship.

Worship is all about God; it's not about how nice the music was, or how good the worship leader led. People must give more credit to God, because He's the one making everything possible, and He's the one that give us voices and the ability to play instruments. People that lead worship are only flesh and blood, while God is a spirit and He's the one that needs to be worshipped.
